Culture in Mittelkärnten
Just 10 minutes away from the Bed & Breakfast Mittelkärnten, you'll find the Auer von Welsbach museum. Carl Freiherr Auer von Welsbach was an eminent and brilliant researcher and inventor at the beginning of the 20th century. He invented the gas-incandescent light, the metal filament lightbulb and the Cereisen flint for lighters. The museum built in his honour in the old town of Althofen has a unique collection of exhibits. Prof. Roland Adunka, the curator of the museum, knows how to inspire visitors with his presentations. Besides the remarkable exhibits, you can also admire an exclusive photo collection.
Cultural treats: Music, singing, cabarets, theatre – a special highlight are the open-air concerts of the Friesacher Burghofspiele, held in the unique setting of Petersberg castle under the starry sky.
